15mm Museum Miniatures Landsknechts

Hi Guys, another project discovery! started collecting these great looking 15's or should it be 18mm figures about 7-8 years ago... and now and then I would work on them, like a couple of months ago!..anyway....Chris at Chrisfigurines blog was wondering what the figures looked like, So I hope the photos give a general idea what the figures look like painted, mind you Chris would paint "sublime" work over the Landsknechts! :oP

  1. Wow! These are little gems!

As for doing your best work in 18mm, I would put your 28mm Old Glory's Landsknechts up against all comers.

    Sublime!

    1. hehehe ... you are cute Jon! thanks for your kind words... I just think I work better with small to medium size figures (15's/18's) than the larger (25's/28's) scales. Perhaps the larger figures are time consuming for me - don't get me wrong here, I love painting 25mm ACW figures not a problem, but painting 25mm/28mm Napoleonic's/Ancients/ etc. is, well, a bit of a slog for me and in some cases demoralizing.....

      cheers,

  3. Hi
    Great work once again.
Funny, because I suppose, what smaller size, always the harder painting work, like is large size

  4. Thankyou kindly and nice work indeed Phil, nice to see how they form up in pikebloc formation. The only gripe I have with Museum minis is the lack of variety in their packs, and I plan to paint three landsknecht pike blocs, two imperialist and one of black band in French pay, so figures might start to look all the same, so I think I will go for a mix of all the manufacturers and see how it all turns out!!!
Its a real shame venexia minis are no longer available, their Renaissance range was the best ever and certainly would have made collecting this period a lot more easier, I think I might put out a post asking if anyone has any unpainted to sell!!!
Thanks for putting these on your blog Phil, much appreciated, I will certainly be getting a few packs of these when its time to get the landsknechts rolling!

    Cheers

    Chris

    1. Thanks Chris! What about the idea buying the Halberd Landsknechts Museum Miniatures packs and cut off the Halberd and add wire pikes to the figures this way you get a variety of figures for your pike blocks?..

      cheers,

    2. Yes Phil, that's a very good idea, and they hold halberds at similar angle as pikemen, I was thinking of taking the pikes of and using north star ones anyway, so I will do the same for the halberdiers too!!!

    3. North Star wire pikes/spears are perfect in "thickness" to replace the lead pike of the miniatures - I tried it and the figures look better!

    4. I wish you luck Chris as they are very hard to find. Sgt. Majors said they would be releasing the range again a couple years ago, but so far nothing.

    5. Well luckily I still have about 80 which I cut down to about 65mm( No going back to 28s with these) which will cover one 72 figure pikebloc, after which I hope I don't struggle to find more!
