Saxon Konig (King) Regiment


Oberst von Gophadt

Added another painted Regiment to my Napoleonic project/collection

1812 Campaign Russia
VII  CORPS  -  General  de Division.  Reynier:
22nd Division: (Generallieutenant von Funck)
1st Brigade (Generalmajor Von Klengel)

Two (24 figures each) Battalions. 28mm Elite Miniatures: Flags by GMB Designs
The Leibfahne - 1st Battalion carried the white flag and the Ordinarfahne - 2nd Battalion carried the facing color of the regiment (red flag)

      Thanks Mike! even though I had a few headaches using shades of "white" the painted figures look good en-mass.

    Outstanding! The white faced red is quite a handsome combination and the flags are striking.

      Thanks Jon! :o) Napoleonic flags usually add that extra "appeal" to any unit, regardless how the figures are painted.

      Thanks Lawrence! The Saxon Konig (Kings) Regiment figures were actually the first to paint and I must admit, look impressive after flocking the bases and adding the GMB flags. The Konig and Von Niesemeuschel Regiments were brigade together, 96 painted figures with white uniforms, red facings may look more appealing? need to take more group photo shoots of the regiments.....

    Nice painting Phil, you are a painting factory. If i was into Napoleonics i would sure pick Elite miniatures!

      Thanks Chris! I think it would be awesome you to paint up Napoleonic units. i.e. Bavarian's or Wurttemberger' s. but, are you sure about the Elite miniatures? I would have thought you will get into Front Rank or even Perry miniatures?

    Beautiful units, Phil! The fine GMB flags set them off well, too. I do especially love the unique Saxon flag designs; not quite like anyone else's!

      I agree Pete, I like the Saxon flags too, but my favorite Napoleonic flags would have to be the Portuguese very striking colours....anyway, by adding battle flags/banners to units usually make the figures stand out during any table top wargame.

      In my opinion the best period to display flags/banners would have to be during Medieval/Renaissance/Great Italian Wars. I'm in awe ;o) sometimes, visiting other bloggers to view their painted Medieval/Renaissance/Great Italian Wars figures along with amazing colorful attached flags/banners very eye candy indeed!
