II/5e Later Greek Aitolian

450 BC - 275 BC

DBA 2.2

Army Composition:
(12 elements) 1 x (Gen) 4Sp, 1 x 2Lh, 3 x 4Sp, 7 x 2Ps

Historical Enemies: IIIyrian, other Later Hoplite Greeks, Hellenistic Boeotian, Alexandrian Imperial, Macedonian Early Successors and Galatians.

Painted this "Light Infantry" Army using left overs/spare Xyston Miniatures :o) This army has a lot of skirmishers and 4 elements of spears (one stand is the general - the figure wearing white leather/linen cuirass) A difficult army to command, totally relying on using rough/bad going terrain and woods for ambush attacks against her enemies (IIIyrians and other later Hoplite Greeks) This Aitolian Army may play better if used as an supporting contingent with one of her fellow Allied Hoplite Armies.

anyway...
As for my flocking of the bases I used Woodland Scenic Fine Brown Ballast followed by dry brushing over the ballast with Ivory Acrylic Paint. I used Woodland Scenics "Harvest Gold" static grass to flock the bases.

IV/5a Sicilian

1072 AD - 1442 AD (Normans in Sicily)

DBA 2.2

Army Composition:  1 x (Gen) 3Kn, 3 x 3Kn, 6 x 2Ps, 1 x 4Sp or 3Ax, 1 x 4Cb or  2Lh

Historical Enemies: Feudal Spanish, Communal Italian, Papal Italian, Berber, Feudal French, Medieval German and Italian Condotta.

Painting this Army was a real joy for me, I don't know why but I do have fun painting up the light Cavalry, light infantry/skirmishers in all my armies...anyway.. I did something different , as a test, to the flocking of the bases. I used Buff Fine Ballast on the bases, afterwards I primed the Ballast with craft smart Acrylic flesh color and later dry brush over the color flesh with Ivory paint.

28mm Renaissance Project 7

Hi Guys, well the month of August slipped away so quickly and spending about 7/8 days working painting the kitchen and dinner room walls I couldn't or didn't have time to finish off my Renaissance Project. I manage to paint the following during August.

2 packs of Old Glory Landsknechts (30 figures per bag)
1 pack of Old Glory Doppelsoldner 2-Handed Swords (30 figures)
1 pack of Old Glory Landshnechts Artillery crews (20 figures)
1 pack of Old Glory Heavy Guns (2 models)

Total: 110 figures + 2 gun models painted

Half way painting/finishing off
2 packs of Pro Gloria Miniatures Landsknechts (24 figures per pack)

On hold
2 packs of Glory Light and Medium Guns (4 models)
1 pack of Old Glory Swiss Pikemen (30 figures)
1 pack of Old Glory Italian Artillery Crews (20 figures)
1 pack of Old Glory Italian/Swiss Arqubuissiers (30 figures)
1 pack of Old Glory Italian/Swiss Crossbowmen (30 figures)
1 pack of Old Glory Landsknechts Arqubuissiers (30 figures)
1 pack of Old Glory Landsknechts Crossbowmen (30 figures)

(whispering to myself, umm hmm... should I mention I painted 2 DBA armies during August as well, thus making me a hypocrite for not full filling my goal to finish my Renaissance Project? using up time to paint 15's as well as 28's.... :oP

28mm Renaissance Project 6

I'm still working on the Pro Gloria Pikemen, but here are photos of the 2 Artillery units and 6 bases of Two Handed Swordsmen. After viewing the photos myself, I notice I should have painted black circles/dots to the artillery pieces gun barrel muzzles to suggest depth.

Landsknechts Heavy Guns

Update!
I just did a quick touching up on the gun barrel muzzles
