Xyston Greek Cavalry

I was happy enough to finish these 18mm Xyston Miniatures off during the week, my flocking of the bases are some what average, which look fine. The Greek cavalry look great to me as en mass formation.

  1. Impressive work Phil, I had to look at the pics for a while before I realized these were 18s and not 28s. Great painting and basing - the massed unit effect is just awesome.

    1. Thanks Soren!
I wonder how one cavalry (block - 12 stands of 36 horsemen) battle group vs one Infantry (12 stands 48 infantry figures) battle group would play on a 3 x 3 foot table top, may need some special rules though i.e. moving, charging, shooting, detaching stands etc... interesting thought? :o)

      cheers,

  2. You have done a great paint job on these Phil, those Xyston minis are really well sculpted too. 36 mounted figures in one unit , really does look an impressive sight!

    1. Thanks Monty, much appreciated!.... A block of Persian foot Archers would certainly cut down these poor, shield less horse men... ;o)

    1. Thanks Christopher, glad you like them. Xyston miniatures are fantastic to work with and put together great looking armies, such as for DBA, Field of Glory or Impetves and other ancient rules sets.

Personally I think you will do an awesome painting job on the Xyston miniatures!

all the best to you Sir!

      cheers,

  6. Hi Phil, You have really cool ancient minis on your blog, the massed cavalry are inspiring, I usually collect 28mm ancients but am tempted to get some 15mm xyston minis because of your blog.
    All the Best,
    Peter
