Manage to finish off the 28mm Foundry Macedonian figures painted as Successors. The miniatures are mounted on 40mm x 40mm bases. Three 40x40 bases (12cm frontage) representing one basic impetvs unit...
Commands and Colors Ancients option: displaying below, 4 strength point Heavy infantry (pike) units. I have enough units here to play CCA successors scenarios....
Beautiful brushwork, Phil! Your pikemen look super ranked up in their colorful blocks.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jon, The pikemen do look colorful not sure about purple/blue colors I used are historical appropriate? ;o)
DeleteSuper looking Pikemen! I think it's the most practical choice of basing and looks great too!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks!...I agree Iain, 40mm x 40mm bases are way to go to cover most wargame rule sets out?..
DeleteExcellent pike Phil! I use a Hotz Mat with 5" hexes for CCA and formed infantry 4 x 4, cavalry 3 x 2, elephants and chariots 2 models a unit and single base commanders fit better when attached to units.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cyrus! and thanks for the Hotz mat 5"hexes for CCA suggestion. I checked it out and looks promising need to save money :o) to buy..Ordered some Victrix (plastics..oh well) Cavalry..waiting package to arrive..
DeleteThey look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks Firey!
Deletecheers,
Great looking Phalangites, Phil! You've made more progress with yours than I have with mine in 4 years, LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter! you have been busy with your Napoleonic campaigns and other mini painting/projects..so not surprised there are delays painting your Phalangites/Ancients..I'm sure they will one weekend or two?... cheers!
DeleteVery beautiful Macedonians!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dmitriy!
Deleteall the best,
Excellent work sir!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michal!
DeleteLooking very lovely Phil!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Thanks Christopher, long way to go to complete my 28mm successor project.... cheers!
DeleteWow, That's a lot of lovely painted minis, welldone Phil. I think 28mm Foundry Macedonian Pikemen can mix well with 28mm Aventine Successor Phalanx minis.
ReplyDeleteAll the Best, Peter.
Thanks Peter, I was thinking of buying 28mm Aventine Successor Phalanx figures but wasn't sure if the minis would mix in with Foundry figures..i.e. height comparisons etc?.. or maybe group Aventine miniatures together in their own units.. I have 28mm Crusader successor pikes seem to fit/mix well with Foundry minis..
DeleteBeautiful work, and you have done a great job on the shields Phil.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence for noticing :o) my work on the shields!
DeleteI have 120 x 28mm Crusader "Eastern Pikemen" Miniatures to work on plus 120 Crusader Miniatures Greek Hoplites..I'm crazy! :o))
