I'm sure 15mm ministures size comparison have been done before, here are 15mm Essex Marian Republican Roman and Old Glory Marian Republican Roman. measured the essex figure from toe/boot to eyes and got about 13.9mm and the Old Glory figure from toe to eyes about 16.5mm Old Glory figures are slightly bigger or as I would say the figures are medium 15s, Essex are small 15s, Xyston figures are large 15s etc...anyway no big deal for me just a thought on 15mm figure comparison.

They look great Phil!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christopher! your painted 28mm Late Roman Light Cavalry are awesome!
Deletepictures comparison scales are always very useful. As a matter of fact, I have a Polybian Roman army from Essex and next week I'm starting with another Polybian but from Cromarty. I'll also post a comparative picture when they are done. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteI agree Javier, comparison scales of figures are always very useful to study before deciding buying the miniature packs. Thanks again!
Deletelooking forward to your painted Polybian Romans. currenting flocking the bases of my Essex DBA/DBMM Republican Romans! :o) cheers!
Which do you prefer painting Phil? I like Essex and have quite a few of their armies, but have never painted an Old Glory figure. My Romans are all Xyston and they are large fellows. Xyston are great, but the multi-parts mean I'm always gluing a few shields and spears back on after each game.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little mixed painting 15s I prefer Essex Cavalry, not the infantry figures and now perfer Old Glory foot/infantry don't like OG cavalry I think it is do with my budget buying OG figures doesnt really hurt my wallet :o) but having said that, Xyston are my favorite figures to paint and play with, again, if my wallet allows me to more Xyston packs! I would :o)
DeleteI love your Xyston Romans and Ancient Spanish - awesome painting/work by you Sir! :o) I know how you feel assemble, drilling hand holes, etc. the Xyston figures is a pain in the back side! but once the figures are painted, the Xyston miniatures look great en masse on the table top....cheers!
forgot to mention the Old glory ancients 15s are great to paint bit like your Forged in Battle figures a bit more detail than Essex figures and a little bigger than Forged in Battle figures.....
