4 figures armed with sabers, 4 figures armed with shotguns, 4 figures armed with pistols and 4 command figures 1 officer, 1 Standard bearer, 1 Bulgar, 1 Sargent.
My favorite figures from the Regimental bag would have to be the drawn sabers miniatures really nice and nasty looking. I haven't as yet flocked the bases, the troopers are not fixed (glued) to the horses yet. shuffling/swapping troopers around on their horses to see how they all would look like together or mixed. I think I botch the painting on these guys the gray color(s) I used look funny to me, maybe not enough shading? After looking at the photos I notice 2 troopers with mold lines running on arms and legs which is extremely naughty of me for not cleaning preparing the miniatures before painting!

Thanks Christopher much appreciated!
DeleteNice looking Rebel cavalry, Phil, The grays look good to me. I was wondering how you had 3 on a base and then the last photo with them 2 per in column - then I read you hadn't glued them down yet. I plan to re-base some of my cavalry - mainly knights - 3 per base. Still keeping other cavalry, particularly lights/skirmishers 2 per base. Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean, yeah I used yellow tack to secure the figures as temp to see how the miniatures look like. As a test I used 40mm x 40mm stand for 2 Cavalry men and 40mm x 60mm for 3 Cavalry men. I like the 2 figure per stand for cavalry, this should cover most ACW rule sets basing system i.e. Guns at Gettysburg and/or Black Powder etc.
DeleteLong live to these beautiful Rebs!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil for your kind words and visit.... Cheers!
DeleteMore great brushwork on these cav!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan!
DeleteYee-haww, I love the rebel reinforcements! Their sawed off shotguns had to be deadly in close.
ReplyDeleteThanks Monty, "Their sawed off shotguns had to be deadly in close" yeah I think so,
DeleteI think the union infantry at Gettysburg loaded their rifle-muskets with buck shot and cause high rate casualties at 100 yards range on the Confederates during Pickets Charge?
cheers,
They look very good, Phil. I wonder if a light black or dark grey wash on the grey coats would enhance the shading and tone down the somewhat blue cast of the grey as it appears ion the pictures here?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your suggestions and visit Peter, I will give it a go during the weekend and work on my grays :o) shading issues or maybe its a signal I'm slowly burning out painting miniatures and need a break?
DeleteExcellent Reb cavalry Phil!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike, not to sure after painting my rebel cavalry unit as excellent perhaps average status is a better description - Your painted Hannibal and Republican Roman Command miniatures are excellent!
