Sash & Saber 25mm ACW Infantry
Something different for a change, Here are my two Brigades of Confederates or if you like, Four Regiments (10 figures each or 12 elements for DBACW) based for Guns at Gettysburg, Impetves ACW, Black Powder, Fire and Fury Rules and/or for any other ACW set of rules. The miniatures are actually mounted on Litko Plywood 60mm x 20mm stands to deploy the units in extended Line if necessary during a game.
Sash and Saber Miniatures are fantastic to collect and/or "must have" for anyone who is interested in the American Civil War. Chris Hughes is a master Sculptor period! :o) I believe Chris also sculpt the Old Glory 2nd Edition ACW miniatures, which I have a few bags and the miniatures are great but slightly taller to their Sash & Saber brothers.
The Sash and Saber 40 metal (lead) figures are from the Regimental Firing Line pack, which is really cool and what I really find amazing is that you get all 40 figures with different poses i.e. 2 officers 2 standard bearers 1 drummer 1 bugler 2 Sargent's 2 corporals and 30 Infantry as standing, knelling, loading and firing positions.... anyway My flocking of the bases are some what mediocre and the grass I used, well looks shocking after looking at the photos! also you will notice no Flags, one day I will purchase ACW Confederate and Union flags at GMB designs
I'm currently working on my Sash and Saber Confederate Regimental Cavalry pack (16 troopers/16 Horses) should be done in a day or two.... anyway all the best Guys..cheers! :o)

These look very nice. Like the basing as well
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike for your kind words and visit ...well I just realize after looking at the photos again I should have used tall dry grass instead of green scatter grass...
ReplyDeletecheers,
What a sensational bunch of figures! Very impressive, those models paint up a treat.
ReplyDeleteOh mate! your Ned Kelly picture frighten the be.Je.sus out of me :o) The 25mm Sash and Saber Miniatures, regardless of painting style, do look awesome! hey Nate I just had quick look around at your blog and your Basic Impetus Armies, in particular the Crusaders and Ayyubids look Awesome!
Deletecheers,
Haha Thanks Phil! I dont get too much game/hobby time with a busy work schedule and a house full of kids, but do enjoy browsing the blogs to see what others are up to. Thanks for stopping over and checking things out mate. :)
Delete:o) No worries... cheers!
DeleteCracking Confederate regiments Phil! The bases look fine to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike, I still think I botch the flocking of the bases - need to work on them again soon..
DeleteVery nicely done Phil! I do enjoy Sash and Saber figures!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Thanks Christopher, I concur with you Sash and Saber Miniatures are marvelous to have and paint, love the detail on the figures.... cheers!
DeleteGreat looking figures and basing, Phil. I like how your basing compliments multiple rules. Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteThanks Dean. yeah it would be great to have all our figures mounted on one basing system to cover all wargame rules sets... it is possible.... cheers!
DeleteSash and Saber are great figures at a fair price. Selfishly, I wish their 40mm ranges were less successful, so that they would add more to their existing 25mm ranges!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, yeah I know and I agree with you about the 40mm collectors brain washing Chris Hughes to produce more 40mm figures during last 2-3 years which was or is a pain in the back side for us 25mm collectors to wait. Chris is a great guy I recall chatting with him over the phone a few years if he would consider getting back into sculpting 25mm ACW or Napoleonic's again, he said he would but to busy with other projects...oh well...but he did hint soon there may or will be S&S 25mm Napoleonic Poles and Bavarian's!
DeleteMay it be so re; Poles and Bavarians from S&S!
Deleteoops.... My apologies Peter, I have no idea why I named you "Steve"
DeleteLove these troops Phil, excellent paint job and beautiful basing, the overall impression is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil for your kind words, I'm still not so happy with the flocking of the bases... look so stupid to me..anyway I need to work on a new approach flocking bases for ACW and Napoleonic's for that matter...thanks for your visit Phil......cheers!
DeleteGreat painting and basing, Phil! Your Rebs look like they're ready to deliver a Yankee beat down. Looking forward to the rest of the crew.
ReplyDeleteI guess this means you've painted every DBA army? ;-)
Hi Monty,
Delete;o) um.. I finished off 5 more DBA armies need to flock their bases which shouldn't be a problem for me to do... in the meantime, during last week, started working on 25mm/28mm ACW miniatures...
cheers,
Thanks Paul I appreciate your nomination, congrats to your award too!
ReplyDeletecheers,
Sash & Saber figures are terrific and your brushwork makes them fantastic! I agree with you that Hughes sculpts some of the best. I have a couple regimental packs of my own to paint one day. I wonder if we will ever see additions to his Napoleonic line?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan for your kind words and visit, I doubt we will ever see additions to the Sash and Saber 25mm Napoleonic Line during our life time :o( unless someone buy's out the company and hire Chris Hughes to re-start sculpting the 25mm Napoleonic range which is a possibility.
